Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari will stay with Italian side Inter Milan at least for this season after being included in the club’s 31-man list for this season’s Uefa Champions League.
Muntari, who has had ups and downs since joining the club Serie A title winners from Portsmouth, was not in the plans of new coach Rafa Benitez for this season.
He was linked with several clubs in England and Italy in swap deals but all of them rejected the proposal for Inter to offload the midfielder.
With the transfer window firmly shut, Muntari has been named in the club’s list for the Champions League squad which means he will also play for them in the league. Muntari will now have to stay on to fight for his place after failing to hold down a regular position at the club.
A late move of joining Tottenham Hotspur crashed after Inter he failed to reach an agreement with the White Hart Lane side. The 26-year-old seems to be out of the plans of new coach Rafael Benitez who left him out of the Italian Super Cup and last Friday’s Uefa Super Cup match against Atletico Madrid.
Inter open their Champions League title defence with Dutch side FC Twente.
