Kwami Sefa Kayi aka 'Chairman'

In the middle of last week, the management of Adom 106.3 FM admitted that after three years as the presenter of its morning show, Ekuoba Gyasi had not been able to push the station to overtake Peace 104.3 FM as the number one morning show, Peace FM’s host is Kwami Sefa Kayi.

Last Friday, August 27, was supposed to be Ekuoba Gyasi’s last day, Kofi Adoma was asked to hold the fort before Adakabre Frempong assumes as host of the Adom morning show starting on Monday, September 6, 2010. Readers will recall that our good friend, Adakabre, used to host the Adom Morning Show three years ago before he left to host the morning show on Hot FM. In May last year, the Daily Dispatch repeated a May 7, 2008 publication of a survey of radio stations respondents listened to between September, 2007 and March 2008.
The question asked as part of a general opinion poll survey was – which radio station do you listen to in the morning, afternoon and evening? Peace FM topped, followed by Joy 99.7; Radio Gold 90.5 FM and Adom FM. Certain programmes on Adom FM went to town, insulting the editor of the Daily Dispatch, that the survey down was not well done and that Adom FM was tops. It went on for two days.

The question we want to ask is – did the management of Adom FM know that they were trailing Peace FM in the rankings when we published the survey. Ekuoba has been asked to stand–by and that management believes that Adakabre would be the one to take Adom FM to the number one spot. When Adakabre left Adom for Hot FM, the station did not feature in the top 10 radio stations (morning). Perhaps, what he did not help Hot FM to achieve, he would do it at Adom FM on his second attempt.

Survey of Radio Stations published in May, 2008
1. Peace - 25.1%

2. Joy - 11.5%

3. Gold - 11.2%

4. Adom - - 6%

5. Citi - 3.1%

6. Obonu - 2.6%

7. Atlantis - 1.8%

8. Ada - 1.7%

9. Uniiq - 1.4%

10. Oman - 1.3%
