CONTROVERSIAL ex-Cuban leader Fidel Castro has claimed Osama bin Laden is a CIA agent. He said former US President George W Bush rolled out the al-Qaeda leader whenever he needed to scare the world.
The former Cuban President said: “Any time Bush would stir up fear and make a big speech, bin Laden would appear threatening people with a story about what he was going to do. “Bush never lacked for bin Laden’s support. He was a subordinate.”
Mr Castro made the comments in a chat with Lithuanian writer Daniel Estulin, who is well known for advancing conspiracy theories.
The Cuban, 84, is a long-standing enemy of the US and has been the subject of numerous assasination attempts by the US Central Intelligence Agency. Mr Castro stepped down due to ill health in 2006 – first temporarily, then permanently. He has handed power over to his younger brother Raul.
