ASANTEHENE INUGURATES OSEI TUTU SCHOOL ALUMNI CLUB IN LONDON.

Osei Tutu School old student association held a fundraising and inauguration in aid of high tech computer library for the school in London on Friday the 14/08/2009. The event was held at exclusive and prestigious Mayor of London office building near Tower Bridge. The Life patron of the School Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11 was represented by Nana Achena Asuonuhene.

The opening address, delivered by Rev. Osei Asibey Boafo (South London Temple) , President of 1990 to 2008 year groups, gave a brief history about the school which started as Osei Tutu Boys Boarding School in 1940, a middle boys boarding school in a bungalow located directly opposite Freeman College, Kumasi, Ghana and later on moved to Akropong Ashanti. He said, the school was named after Nana Osei Tutu I, the Asantehene and founder of the Asante Kingdom of Ghana.

In his inaugural address the Nana Achena Asuonuhene noted that the School which started as Osei Tutu Boarding School in 1940 then as Osei Tutu Training College and later as Osei Tutu Secondary School in 1970 has produce many great men including former President John A. Kuffour , Dr Kwame Addo Kuffour and former IGP Nana Owusu Nsiah among many others . He therefore urge all the old students of the three Osei Tutu School ie, Osei Tutu Boarding School , Osei Tutu Training College and Osei Tutu Secondary School to always be inspire to help expand the level of education in their alma meter.

The President of the union Rev. Asamoah Mensah 1970 to 1990 year groups, described the School many achievement in the past and therefore urge current students of the School to always preserve the good image of the School.

The Acting Ghana High Commissioner in London Mr Zed Grant Essilfie , called on the various old students groups of the Osei Tutu School in the diaspora to help the Government of Ghana in the provision of educational materials for the school since the government cannot do all.

Mr Stephen Owusu Asabere, Vice President of the 1990 to 2008 groups in his vote thanks said ‘let this be a fundraising event the results of which will fill Osei Tutu School with hope, the determination and focus to aim for the best as the School motto says My Utmost For His Highest’.
