Yaw Asiamah, a farmer who grew wild and uttered abusive words on his in-laws and later threatened to poison their drinking water, has appeared before an Akim Oda Magistrate’s Court in the Birim Central Municipality.

Asiamah, who pleaded not guilty to offensive conduct and threat of death, was remanded in Police custody by the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, to reappear on September 9.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah said the complainants are Mr Samuel Adu, Mr Kwame Ampong, Mr Edward Ampaw, Ms Akosua Tinkoramaah, and Ms Abena Fosuhemaah who are all family members and natives of Akim Swedru in the Birim South District, while the accused, Asiamah who hails from the same town was a boy-friend of Ms Tinkoramaah.
Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said on July 31 this year, around 1200 hours, Asiamah stormed Ms Tinkoramaah’s house and without any provocation, started insulting the family members, saying; “Useless people, slaves and descendants of goats,” to the annoyance of the relatives who reported the matter to the Police but that Asiamah had absconded by the time the Police arrived in the house.

According to the prosecutor, on August 1 this year, around 0430 hours, Asiamah went to the house again to cause commotion by attacking and engaging in a struggle with his former girl-friend over their children and threatened that he would poison her and the other family members through their drinking water. Asiamah was, however, over powered by the family members and handed over to the Akim Swedru Police.
