It has emerged over a month after the 2010 World Cup that the Black Stars players are yet to receive the full amount of bonuses and pledges made to them.
Monies to the tune of about $95,000 including a $20,000 pledge made by Ghana’s President (Mills) upon the team’s arrival after making the continent proud in Africa’s first World Cup remains outstanding.
An amount of $30,500 was said to have been paid to the players while in South Africa and about $80,500 in Ghana a reliable source revealed.
“The GFA assured the players while in South Africa that all monies would be paid the moment the team arrives in Ghana and were even made to sign some documents.
“They (GFA) paid about $30,500 in South Africa and promised to honour the rest later.”
“Upon the team’s return to Ghana, the FA paid about $80,500 bringing the total payments received by the players thus far to about $111,000.”
The development appears to be causing some kind of agitation ahead of Ghana’s crucial Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland next month.
Some of the players who are very disturbed about the situation are rumoured to be shying away from asking what rightfully belongs to them for fear of the position in the team.
