Manchester City are in talks with Real Madrid over the possible signings of Bernabeu duo Gonzalo Higuain and Fernando Gago, according to Sky Sports News.

With Jose Mourinho expected to be announced as the new head coach at Real in the near future, question marks have been raised with regards to the futures of a number of the club’s players with the Portuguese seemingly keen to overhaul his squad.

City will undoubtedly be on the look out for potential new faces with boss Roberto Mancini looking to improve on the squad that finished fifth in the Premier League for the 2009-10 season.

Higuain, in particular, enjoyed a productive season in La Liga this term, ending as the club’s top goalscorer with an impressive 27 league goals.
The Argentine’s international team-mate Gago, meanwhile, struggled to cement his place in the team under recently axed coach Manuel Pellegrini, making just 14 starts in the league for Los Blancos.

City are now reportedly speaking directly with Real over the possibility of bringing both Argentina international’s to Eastlands and will certainly have plenty of cash in reserve as they seemingly attempt to convince the Spanish giants to sell.
