Ghana international Sulley Muntari could become the third Ghanaian to lift the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy if Inter defeat Bayern Munich in the final next month in Madrid.

If selected, the midfielder will become the fifth Ghanaian to play in the Champions League final after the Italian club edged past holders Barcelona on aggregate in the semi-final after a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday night.

Muntari, who came on as a second half substitute, is set to rub shoulders with legend Abedi Pele, Sammy Kuffuor, Ibrahim Tanko and Michael Essien as the only Ghanaians to have played in the final of the competition.

Abedi won it in 1991 with Marseille while defender Kuffuor made it with Bayern Munich ten years later.
