Standbic Bank supports Volta police

The Volta Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) David Ampah Bennin, has called on the public to cooperate with the police, to ensure effective protection of the citizenry, by freely offering support in areas such as infrastructure to the police.

He said the sophisticated nature of crime demanded that the police change its methods of operation in order to meet the challenges, and disclosed that the Regional Police Command had adopted special methods of policing in the Ho municipality, to ensure that the people were adequately protected during the forthcoming Christmas activities.

Mr. Ampah Bennin, who made this known when the Standbic Bank presented an open cheque to him, towards the painting of structures at the Ho Police Training School, which are in a dilapidated state, disclosed that the Ho Municipality had been divided into twelve zones, where police personnel had been strategically positioned to deal with Christmas and its associated crimes.

The Ho Branch Manager of the Standbic Bank, Mr. Peter Atsu Gakpey, who presented the cheque to the Regional Police Commander, said his outfit recognised the vital role the police played in the banking system, and that Standbic would continue to support the police.

He said the police made the request to the bank last year, to paint the buildings at the training school, which it responded to, by taking up the cost involved in the project.

The Head of the Credit Unit of the Standbic Bank, Mr. Bernard Gyebi, later presented food items, including rice, maize and cooking oil, as well as used clothes to cured lepers at the Ho Leprosarium, to enable them to celebrate the Christmas.

He said the Credit Unit of the Bank had adopted the cured lepers, and would give them the needed support.
