Kasoa district recorded minor increase in motor accidents at Christmas

The Kasoa District Police Command say the town recorded a slight increase in the number of motor accidents between December 24 and December 29 this year, as against 2008.
The District Police Commander, DSP Jordan Quaye, made this known in a press statement at Kasoa on Wednesday.
He said between December 24 and 29 2008, seven minor accidents involving eight vehicles were recorded but without any death, while in the same period this year, accidents involving 9 vehicles were also recorded without any casualty. Read more
Wa Police to embark on “operation helmet buying”

Upper West Regional Minister Mahmud Khalid has appealed to the Regional Road Safety Commission to procure helmets and collaborate with the police to embark on “Operation instant helmet buying” for people who ride motor bikes in town.
He said many people whose lives could have been saved in motor accidents died because they were not wearing helmet. Read more
Farmer in court for defiling niece

Kwadwo Galigo, a 26-year-old farmer, on Thursday appeared before the Asamankese Circuit Court for defiling his 12-Year-old niece.
He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in prison custody to re-appear on January 11, 2010.
Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri told the court that Galigo lived in the same house with the primary school girl at Kordorbeda near Asamankese. Read more

Speaking on the club’s website, Ancelotti said that Essien will remain at Chelsea for extra treatment on his injured hamstring before travelling to the tournament in Angola.
“He will go I think, in one week he will be ready to go to play for the African Cup,” Ancelotti said.
Essien, 27, has been out of action since suffering a hamstring tear against Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League on Dec.8.
