Nsawam, (E/R), Sept. 30, GNA – Dr Godfred Osei Bonsu Twum, Akuapem South Municipal Chief Executive, has called on the people of the area to clear weeds around their houses and bury their refuse to help reduce filth and diseases in the community.
He said that would help reduce the breeding of mosquitoes and house flies and improve upon the health of the citizens.
Dr Twum said it was for that reason that the municipal assembly had devoted the last three months to the organization of clean-up exercises to help reduce malaria and other diseases in the municipality.
He gave the advice after leading over 1,000 people, made up traders, drivers, opinion leaders and residents of the municipality to undertake a clean-up exercise in the area.
Places such as the Nsawam main lorry park, Nsawam Central Market, Gyankrom, Adoagyiri, Afutu and Aburi junction were cleaned.
Dr Twum said the exercise would be extended to Aburi and other communities in the municipality to ensure environmental cleanliness and prevent death caused by malaria.
