Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has openly stated that he has not regretted leaving office and officially handing over power to President John Atta Mills and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He observed that he was not worried leaving office because he knew his term to serve his nation had come to an end and needed to hand over to another person to build on the solid foundation he had laid over the years.

The former African Union (AU) chairman was speaking on TV3′s Sunday program, Kwaku One-on-One.

He added that his administration must be credited for stabilizing the economy and laying a platform for solid governance and growth before handing over power.

“There is no development without investment,” the former president argued.

He noted that the existing four year-term mandates is not too good enough, but was quick to add that a five-year term would have been better.

Mr Kufuor pointed out that although his administration could not do everything it had planned due to limited time, he believed his administration was successful and that should not be overlooked.

He continued that he felt extremely excited any time he drove pass the Jubilee House and has no regrets for putting up such an edifice.

Mr Kufuor explained that he built such a monument not because it was meant for him but rather saw it as a vital necessity for the next President of Ghana.

“This is a historic landmark and no one can change that fact,” Ex-President Kufuor intimated.
