These include providing quota systems for women, supporting them financial during electioneering and encouraging them to contest Districy Assembly elections.

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) may not have won the Chereponi parliamentary seat had the party fielded a different candidate, pollster Ben Ephson has opined.
The NDC candidate – 36-year-old teacher Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite – polled 8,239 votes against the 7,416 secured by his closest contender from the New Patriotic Party, Abukari Gariba. Read more
Ghana Port Health to inspect vaccination cards

For about eleven years officials of the Ghana Port Health at the Kotoka International Airport have not been inspecting vaccination cards of travellers.
This has placed the nation at a position where its doors are open to all sorts of health risks.
Speaking to Ghana Today’s, Jennifer Addo-Larbi, the Director of Public Health, Dr. Joseph Amankwah admits and explains that, the process was interrupted due to some challenges.
Management, he said is however in consultation with the Airport Company Limited to restore the process.

Government to restructure NHIA

The Upper East Regional Minister, Mark Woyongo, has given the assurance that government will deliver on its promise to restructure the National Health Insurance Authority to enable it respond to the needs of the people and improve upon the issue of claims management.
He was speaking at a Regional Strategic Seminar for Management of District Mutual Health Insurance Schemes and staff of the National Health Insurance Authority at Bolgatanga.

MCE leads campaign to reduce malaria at Akuapem South

Nsawam, (E/R), Sept. 30, GNA – Dr Godfred Osei Bonsu Twum, Akuapem South Municipal Chief Executive, has called on the people of the area to clear weeds around their houses and bury their refuse to help reduce filth and diseases in the community.

Stop discrimination against the elderly – Ban Ki-Moon

UN secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon has warned all to put an end to age discrimination, abuse, neglect and violence against older persons.
“I urge states to put the necessary legal protections in place, and I urge all partners to help countries develop the capacity and institutions to achieve this objective”, he added.
Mr Ban issued this warning in his message to mark the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the International Year of Older Persons. Read more
