“I will use music to educate fans”

South Africa-based Ghanaian fashion designer, Kennedy Kwame Owusu aka Osboy, has declared that as a fashion designer who is now into music, he will use music to educate his fans against social vices and to also encourage them to believe that Ghana has a bright future.

He said, “I will put my best into music in order to come out with good songs that will educate the masses on issues affecting the society. That is my dream and I will make sure I achieve the ultimate”.

In a chat with BEATWAVES, the fashion designer-cum-musician noted, “I love music; it has been part of me since I was born and I want to be in it for the rest of my life. I want my presence in the music industry to be recognized and also want my music to rub shoulders with those on the international music scene”.

Osboy who is in the country to outdoor his maiden album hinted that he has finished work on the album, ‘Ategya,’ which will be released very soon onto the music market.

Osboy, a fashion designer with fifteen years’ working experience explores a variety of genres in his maiden album which is yet to be aired on some selected radio stations in the country.

Some of the songs on the album are ‘Hwana Ba Nie,’ ‘Menhunu So,’ ‘Wobekume Afere,’ ‘Daben,’ ‘Far From Home,’ ‘Fakye Me’ among others with good drum beats and choruses.

Almost all the songs on the album are fast-paced tune which every music lover will appreciate.

The album which has ‘Ategya’ as the title track has eleven tracks on the CD and eight on the cassette, and it featured the silky-voiced man, Ebo’o, and Lord Be Rich from South Africa.

Anyone who grabs a copy of the album will certainly be amazed at the transformation songs have undergone to appeal to modern ears.

Osboy explained that “on the music scene, I will concentrate on hiplife mixed with highlife rhythms to enable me break through the market”.

His African awareness and identity are vividly portrayed in the lyrics of his songs which are very educative.

What is very touching about the whole album is the sound quality of the songs, which could be attributed to the state-of-the-art equipment used for the recording.

He told BEATWAVES that the album was carefully packaged not only for the local market but the entire African continent and Ghanaian communities in the world at large.
